I travel for work building electrical substations, but I hit it off fast with my partner and had been turning down opportunities so that I could stay. Finally I received an offer I didn’t wanna turn down.
I knew the news would break her heart but I wanted her to know I meant business with our relationship. I looked at Fred Meyer for ideas but it was all to serious and modern.
Anyway I lost track of time doing chores so that I could see her and thought Gold Door was open really late on a Friday in Portland? No! I was doing laundry when I realized they close a 7pm and it 625pm and it’s a 35 min drive!!!!!! I didn’t wanna my plan ruined so I threw everything in the truck, called Gold Door to verify google was correct on the hours of operation. I got near the location and parked where I knew there was parking cause I had No second to spare. Which happened to be Fred Meyer. I jumped out of my truck and started huffing it in my boots. It was about a block or so and I’m pretty sure they stayed open just for me cause I called and as I ran up they were all “are you the guy that called?”
Anywhoser thanks again for all the help and staying open on a Friday night for love 😅 she cried about the bad news but loved the ring and the promise that came with it

What initially brought me through the door was some awesome sculptures! The beautiful lady with the sparkly crown offered to take pics of me with them- here's one! Isn't it a great shot?
She invited me to look around so I did. No matter what your path or background or demographic is, there is absolutely something for everyone in this shop. The prices are completely reasonable and this is coming from someone (me) who used to be a subwholesaler.
I found a special treasure to take home, and I will be coming back again and again.

We've been loyal Gold Door customers since 2012, when we moved to Portland and discovered this gem. They have everything we like; from incense to crystals, jewelry, and decor. The quality of items is superb and the prices are very competitive.
But I'd say what makes this place stand out is its staff. They're very knowledgeable and attentive. And there's ONE PERSON in particular that makes each visit extra special, if we happen to go when she's working: DARIA!!!
From the day we met, we made a strong connection with Daria and she's been heaven sent to me and my family. She goes out of her way to make each visit unique and special. She gives us her amazing energy, shares her wisdom, and makes us feel very loved. Thank you Daria for always taking the time to show us things you think we'd like, and for adding to our lives in a very DARIA WAY!!!
We will continue to make Gold Door a must-go-to place when we have family and friends visit us from out of town. It's always a hit!

I have shopped here for many years. I used to recommend this store, but never again. I don't know what happened to the older lady on staff, but after my interaction with her last week, I will never go back. I work in customer service, and the attitude she gave me for no reason except maybe she was angry she was working was so incredibly unnecessary. Maybe she's the owner now so she feels emboldened to be her true angry self? I have never left a Google review, but after hearing from a friend that had a similar interaction with this same woman and reading all the other bad reviews about this one staff member I felt I had to add my review. A shop that sells crystals that is run all day by someone with so much anger and a nasty attitude is not a shop I want to get my stones from. I would rather not buy expensive crystals full of her bad energy. I miss Ed's House of Gems. The staff was always warm and kind, and the stones were so much more reasonably priced.

Love this place so much. Lori (sorry if I spelled it wrong!) was beyond helpful guiding me to find a ring. I have hands down never felt so taken care of in a store. She educated me on the stone and gave me a polishing cloth since I’m a newbie. She was super cool. The quality of the ring is outstanding, and the price point was very reasonable for such a beautiful piece. Although I’m from the east coast, if I’m ever back in Portland I’m without a doubt coming back.

This shop has a large variety of relics, statues, incense, decor, stones, and jewelry. The staff was very knowledgeable about their products and made extra sure to not over charge our large order. I appreciate their meticulousness.

A true Portland gem. They have everything from glass sculptures, jewelry, oddities, incense, pipes, and hand-made art from around the world. The place to go if you are looking for a unique gift or decor. I didn't have the honor of knowing the owner myself. But it was during my trip to Istanbul Turkey that I learned about him. After entering a shop by chance and speaking with the owner a little bit about where I come from. He lit up with excitement and shared with me stories about him and Jerry throughout the years over a cup of Turkish tea. He pulled out an old book dating back to what looked like the 80s. On its pages were handwritten transactions between him and the gold door. He told me the impact Jerry had made on his life, and those he did business with were great. You can see a little area inside the gold door hanging above the registers dedicated to Turkey. I highly recommend you check it out. I can attest that the items are made by hand with love, and each piece tells a different story about their life, history, and culture.

This shop was recommended to me while visiting the area.
One of the younger ladies was very sweet and warm. However, another lady that I asked to open one of the display cases was not. She appeared to be the manager. I'm not certain but she treated me like I was going to steal something. I have never been to a gem shop and guarded. She literally sat there with me and did not allow me the freedom to look on my own. I can't imagine anyone would want a babysitter when they're trying to feel out the energy of the gems. This lady also made my friend feel very uncomfortable and was watching her the entire time. She seemed very concerned about potential shoplifting, in which we gave no reason to be suspected. I will not visit this shop again. I was very disappointed and the energy of this woman was not pleasant. I would suggest giving customers freedom to look without being hovered. You'll be a much more successful shop imo.
